A few weeks ago, the Daily Mail released a story which reported that 59% of British holidaymakers admitted that they avoid local foreign food altogether during their travels abroad. A whopping 65% said that they headed straight for fast food outlets to satisfy their stomachs!
Although the truth behind the stats remains to be seen, we have to admit, we were shocked at the high percentage! It does go some way to explaining the golden arches of McDonalds on the beach side promenade in Tenerife however…
We want to know if this is really the case?
On your holidays to Spain do you really bypass the delicious, authentic tapas and fresh seafood for a greasy Burger King?
If you fancy a drink, do you turn your nose up at Sangria and track down the local Irish Bar for a nice, refreshing pint?
In Greece do you give the Moussaka a miss and avoid the Tzatziki and Feta in favour of a KFC?
What about in Portugal? Have you ever sampled the Port from Porto? Enjoyed a delicious hearty local stew?
Instead, have you forgone a continental breakfast in search of Full English fry up?
We want to know the real truth so vote in our poll below!
Do you eat the local food when on holiday abroad?

If you voted “No“, is there a reason you don’t like to try foreign food?
If you voted “Yes”, let us know what your favourite foreign food is and why you like to eat local when on holiday!
If you voted “Sometimes”, we’d love to hear where you would be more likely to eat the local cuisine!
Personally, we love to try local food abroad. Nine times out of ten it is delicious, you get to experience the local culture and it can make for a fun story to tell your friends back home!
We’re all different though and we’d love to hear your thoughts so over to you! Use the comments below!
